RED ALERT: Join the fight for Net Neutrality

Tell your Representative to vote in favor of restoring net neutrality today.

Since the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced that they would repeal the rules that protect a free and open internet, Etsy has been working to make sure Congress protects net neutrality. On May 16, we won an important milestone: the US Senate listened to the majority of voters and overruled the FCC's repeal. The fight isn't over, though, so we're taking our battle to the House of Representatives.

Etsy has continued to make the case for clear, simple, bright line net neutrality protections in the courts and in Congress. We've advocated alongside our community of 1.9 million Etsy sellers, and today, we're going red to call attention to the importance of net neutrality.

Now is the time to tell your Representative where you stand. Make sure they know you're on red alert for net neutrality, and urge them to vote in favor of the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to restore net neutrality.

Dear Official,

I am a creative entrepreneur and an Etsy seller from your state. I’m writing to you today to encourage you to vote in favor of Congressional Review Act to overturn the FCC's repeal of the rules that protected internet microbusinesses like mine.

Net neutrality has allowed me and millions of others to run businesses out of our homes with just an internet connection. 1.9 million business owners—the majority of whom are women—use Etsy.com to connect with buyers across the globe. For 32% of creative entrepreneurs on Etsy, our creative business is our sole occupation. We rely on a free and open internet to support ourselves and our families.

I'm concerned that the FCC's repeal of the bright line rules that enabled a free and open internet will have a negative impact on my microbusiness. The possibility of an internet slow lane or higher cost to participate directly threatens the success of my business, and that threatens my ability to support myself and my family.

If you truly believe that small business is the backbone of our local economy, I urge you to stand up for microbusinesses like mine and denounce this unprecedented attack on the internet by voting in favor of the Congressional Review Act and reverse the FCC's repeal.
