The Etsy Uplift Fund

Powered by buyer generosity and Etsy's charitable giving, the Etsy Uplift Fund invests in craft communities across the United States.

A Community-Powered Investment

The Etsy Uplift Fund was formally launched in 2021 to help expand access to economic opportunity for creative entrepreneurs.

Today, the fund’s resources from buyer donations and Etsy’s charitable giving flow through the Craft Catalyst Initiative to organizations, nonprofits and community institutions in some of the country’s most vibrant craft communities. These organizations provide makers with the infrastructure, resources, and networks they need to build lasting creative careers.

How the Fund Works

Buyers contribute

Eligible U.S. buyers can choose to round up their purchases at checkout and donate the spare change to the Etsy Uplift Fund.

Etsy contributes

Buyer donations are complemented by Etsy’s own charitable giving dollars.

Communities benefit

Funds are distributed to nonprofit organizations and community institutions that strengthen craft communities and expand opportunity.

Why This Matters

Behind every successful maker is a network of organizations that helped them get there—craft schools, cultural institutions, and community nonprofits that provide access to skills, knowledge, and connection.

These organizations are the foundation of a healthy craft ecosystem. When they’re well-resourced, more makers can build sustainable businesses. The Etsy Uplift Fund helps strengthen that foundation.

Impact

Over time, support from buyers and Etsy has helped fund programs focused on creative entrepreneurship, business education and community investment.

Today, the fund’s primary focus is the long-term health of the craft communities that help makers thrive.

In 2025, our Uplift Fund supported organizations providing creative entrepreneurs with capital and wrap-around business support services for nearly 7,690 entrepreneurs. Along with Etsy’s contribution, U.S. buyers elected to give back to the creative community by donating their change at checkout 4.4 million times, resulting in $1.9 million in grants.

Transparency and Accountability

100% philanthropic

Independently administered

The fund is held and administered by Brooklyn Org, an independent 501(c)(3) public foundation, that sponsors Donor Advised Funds for charitable giving.

Community impact

Funds are distributed to nonprofit organizations that align with the goals of the fund.
